What We Do

Services and pricing

Two ways to work with us. A monthly retainer gives you an outsourced finance function sized to your business; a project solves one problem, with a start and an end. Many clients begin with a project and move onto a retainer once the backlog is clear.

Monthly Retainers

An outsourced finance function, sized to your business

These are price bands, not packages to pick from. Your turnover sets the starting point; within it the fee depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, invoice volume and complexity. What the engagement actually covers is built around your business on a discovery call, so two clients in the same band can hold quite different scopes. Not sure where you sit? The free assessment gives an indication from seven questions.

Fees & Terms

What you actually pay, and what you commit to

How long you commit for

Three months to start, then month to month on a month’s notice. The minimum is there so the work has time to settle before anyone judges it - after that you are never more than a month from stopping.

What the three levels are

A guide to price, not three fixed packages, and not steps that build on one another. After the discovery call we scope the work around your business - so two clients in the same band can hold very different engagements.

How the fee is set

Your turnover band sets the starting point. Within it, the monthly fee depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, invoice volume, business complexity and the scope you need.

When you get a number

After a short discovery call, once we understand your set-up. The quote is confirmed in writing before any commitment, and the published figures are the floor of each band rather than an average.

What sits outside the fee

Add-ons listed against each level are quoted separately. Project work is quoted on its own scope, whether or not you also hold a retainer.

Moving between levels

Businesses grow, and the right level changes with them. We review the fit as your volumes change rather than leaving you on a fee that has stopped matching the work.

All figures exclude VAT.

Before You Ask

The questions that come up first

The six we are asked before anyone commits. There are another seventeen covering how we work day to day.

All questions

How quickly can you start?

Within a week is realistic for most clients, and we work around your timing. If you have an urgent deadline approaching - a VAT return, an overdue filing, a funding round - please raise it on the discovery call. That allows us to plan resources properly and give you a clear answer on whether we can meet it.

How much does it cost, and how is it charged?

Retainers start at £1,000 per month for businesses under £1m turnover, £5,500 for £1m–£5m, and £10,000 above that, excluding VAT. These figures are the starting point of each band rather than an average: your turnover sets the band, and the fee within it depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, invoice volume and complexity. You receive a quote after a short discovery call, confirmed in writing before you commit. Project work is quoted separately against its own scope. Full detail is on our services and pricing page.

What happens if the work grows beyond what we agreed?

We provide a revised quote before we begin, and we do not proceed until you have approved the cost. Add-ons and project work - payroll, systems implementation, audit preparation, remediation - are quoted separately rather than absorbed into the monthly fee. You will not be invoiced for anything you have not approved. As your volumes change, we review whether you are still on the right level rather than leaving you on a fee that no longer matches the work.

Who will be doing our work?

You will have an assigned client manager who leads the relationship and reviews all work before it is issued. Day-to-day processing is handled by our accounting team, who you will also deal with directly. You will not be passed between different people from one quarter to the next.

Link to this answer

Is any of the work outsourced or offshored?

No. All work is carried out by our own team, and we will confirm exactly who is assigned to your account before you sign. No work is passed to a third-party processing firm.

What happens if our main contact is on leave?

A second person always has visibility of your file, and we include a colleague on client correspondence as standard. Deadlines are not affected by annual leave.
